Danko Jones featured in Kick-Ass 2

Friday the 16th sees the official premiere of Kick-Ass 2 and with a cast including Jim Carrey this time around it is predicted to be an even bigger success than the much heralded first movie.

It is with great pride we can now announce that one of the most significant scenes in the film is played out to the sound of the classic Danko Jones song “Dance” – off their 2003 album “We Sweat Blood”. This follows a long line of prominent placements for the band – including songs featured in True Blood, CSI:NY and EA Sports NHL 2011 to name a few.

Needless to say, the song is also included on the movie’s official soundtrack and was also the musical theme of the film’s first trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekram9md95k

Atom Willard joins Danko Jones on upcoming tour

We are excited to announce that Atom Willard will be joining Danko Jones as the drummer on their upcoming summer tour, replacing Dan Cornelius who is no longer with the band. With a history in bands like Rocket From The CryptThe Offspring and Social Distortion and being a current member of Angels & Airwaves the experience and talent Atom is bringing to the band will be the beginning of a very exciting new chapter.

Atom’s first show with the band will be in Gothenburg on June 15:th and they have about a dozen European festivals lined up all through summer. More North American dates will be announced shortly.

Both JC and I have been fans of Atom Willard for years. We own the records he’s on and hell, we even wrote a song about his old band [“RIP RFTC” about Rocket From The Crypt]. Yes, we’re ecstatic he’s coming out with us.”

– Danko

“I have been a fan of this band, and these songs for a long ass time…so when they asked if I could do it, and I could, I was stoked! I love rock and roll!”

– Atom

Danko Jones have started a podcast series called “The Official Danko Jones Podcast” which is available as a free subscription on iTunes here. Below Danko describes the first episode:

Hope you enjoy this new series of podcasts I’ll be doing. It’s simply me reading articles I’ve been writing in various Rock & Metal magazines for the last 6 years. This inaugural podcast has me reading an article I wrote for Close-Up Magazine, Sweden’s premier metal magazine, from last year. It’s officially called “Making A Go Of Black Metal”. Hope you enjoy it.
