Timbuktus succébok blir scenföreställning i höst

I höst blir Jason Diakités hyllade debutbok En droppe midnatt scenföreställning. En droppe midnatt har premiär den 21 september och spelas i Stockholm samt Malmö.

Efter slutsålda festivaler, konserter och medverkan i oändliga TV-shower valde Jason Diakité, mer känd under artistnamnet Timbuktu, att börja om. Börja om med att försöka återskapa sitt nutida jag genom att leta i historien. Resultatet blev Jasons bokdebut med En droppe midnatt, en bok som berört och blivit en försäljningsframgång med över 35 000 sålda exemplar. Nu blir succéboken till en scenföreställning.

– Jag ser framemot att få levandegöra En droppe midnatt på scen och sätta musik till orden. Den som gillade boken kommer förhoppningsvis att uppleva ännu en dimension av En droppe midnatt i och med scenframförandet, säger Jason Diakité.

En droppe midnatt är en gripande berättelse om identitet, rasism och längtan efter tillhörighet, där musiken leder publiken genom historien till nuet. Scenföreställningen sätts upp på Skandiascenen, Cirkus i Stockholm och Slagthuset i Malmö. Totalt blir det 25 föreställningar. Biljetterna släpps den 16 mars.

En droppe midnatt – en scenföreställning om livet, musiken, historien och om att inte vara halv utan snarare dubbel.

Kära vänner! Igår var det turnépremiär i Gbg och idag har jag glädjen att släppa de 2 första låtarna från mitt kommande album. Under vintern har jag spelat in med de fantastiska musikerna i Deportees. “Jag nådde aldrig riktigt fram till dig” handlar om den ensamhet man kan känna med människor, trots att man är nära dem. Skriven till tre personer, en för varje vers. “Vågor” är min svenska tolkning av “Cycles”. Frank Sinatra spelade in den på 60-talet och det är en av mina favoritlåtar. New album ‘Wild Cat’ by Danko Jones Out Today

With the previous album Fire Music Danko Jones reached their highest chart positions to date in a number of European territories as well as incredible radio results. Today, on March 3rd, Danko Jones return with their latest masterpiece – Wild Cat – released through eOne in Canada and Bad Taste Records/AFM Records in the rest of the world, once again produced by Juno Award winning producer Eric Ratz.Danko Jones have never felt more vibrant or hungry than they are on Wild Cat. The 11-track album is a raw representation of the band’s collective musical history and their influences, (ranging from The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy and Van Halen to The Misfits) is not only a declaration of love of these artists, but of the genre as a whole. The first single off the album, “My Little RnR”, (released January 27th), is an ode to the The Rolling Stones’ song Little T&A as well as a bangin’ rock song, and has been climbing the radio charts in Canada and many parts of Europe quickly over the past month.

In connection with the album release Danko Jones will embark on the Wild Cat World Tour, starting with a series of headline shows in Europe & Canada in March and April, followed by an extensive list of festivals throughout summer.

Ny singel från Julia Adams – deja vu

Idag är det premiär för Julias Adams nya singel ”deja vu” – en melankolisk popdröm om destruktiva relationer.

Inspirationen till låten kommer från Beyoncés låt med samma namn. Julia fastnade vid raden ”swear it’s deja vu” och skrev snabbt ner ”svär det är deja vu” innan hon gick in i studion. Hon visste direkt att hon ville göra en låt med den textraden och temat föll snabbt på plats.

”Den handlar om att gång på gång falla tillbaka in i gamla destruktiva situationer och relationer, men att till sist inse sitt eget värde, stå upp för sig själv och gå vidare.”

Låten är skriven tillsammans med Albin&Mattias och inspelad i Norge med producentduon Skinny Days. Julia Adams har sedan tidigare släppt EP:n Chanslös (2016) med singlar som ”Allt jag nånsin”, ”Som jag” och den omtalade ”0400AM”, samt r’n’b-pärlan ”Spegelbild” tillsammans med Mwuana.

Danko Jones release new music video

Today we released the video for Danko Jones’ track “My Little RnR”, the first single from the upcoming album “Wild Cat” out worldwide on March 3rd. Danko himself had this to say about the video:

“This is a fun stop-motion horror-themed music video from the POV of a blood-sucking vampire. Who doesn’t love blood and guts and RNR?”

 

Bad Taste Empire transforms and welcomes Alan Walker as new management client

The businesses operated under Bad Taste Records, OBA Management, Bad Taste Events and Feeble Music, all owned and managed by Björn Barnekow and Jonas Nilsson, will merge under the name Bad Taste Empire. At the same time Bad Taste are welcoming Norwegian superstar Alan Walker to its roster of management clients.

During the past 25 years the small independent record label Bad Taste Records, founded in a boy’s room in Kävlinge in southern Sweden in 1992, has expanded vastly beyond its early punk rock roots. Over the years a sync- and publishing business (Feeble Music), a management company (OBA Management) and a booking agency and promoter (Bad Taste Events) have emerged and been successfully integrated with the company structure. After 2,5 decades of experimenting, growing and to a certain extent maturing, the time has now come to return to where it all started, with Bad Taste. (Unfortunately this does not mean that we will get back to releasing skate punk records …but we wouldn’t rule out doing regular screenings at the office again of Peter Jackson’s epic splatter comedy from which we stole our name!) It will be business as usual through most of our different operations, but from now on it will be consolidated under the Bad Taste Empire name.

While going through this symbolic brand transformation we are also taking the opportunity to make some practical changes to the business. We are leaving our home in Lund since more than 20 years and we are establishing a new head office in Stockholm. Simultaneously we are also setting up a branch in Malmö. Our office in Santa Monica, US, will also continue to expand its operations. With these alterations we aim to streamline our operation, get closer to the music business in Stockholm and take a natural step forward in the progression of the company.

Another big thing that happened here is that we, as of January 1st, have entered into a collaboration with the Norwegian company MER Management as co-managers of Alan Walker. Amongst other things our responsibilities include North-, South- and Central America, which means that our presence on the American market will be even greater during 2017. Our relationship with MER goes way back as we have worked very closely together on artist Timbuktu for many years.

With just 3 singles released Alan Walker is already one of the most streamed artists in the world on Spotify, and his YouTube channel has racked up a whopping 1,5 Billion views. He received Gold & Platinum records in 29 countries last year for his song ”Faded”, a song that came out before he even turned 19! Alan is currently doing a sold out club tour in Europe and starting on Friday next week in Las Vegas he will embark on his first US tour. Based on current projections we are expecting the entire US tour to sell out as well! We honestly couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity to work with Alan Walker and the always inspiring team at MER!

The only business that remains in its current form is 7th & Hill Productions, a company founded and operated together with Janne Kleman. Under 7th & Hill we will continue doing innovative and bold festivals and other events in Sweden and the US. We are looking forward to celebrating our 25th year as a company with new projects, challenges, continued success and new exciting collaborations.

Danko Jones announce new album Wild Cat and Spring 2017 Tour dates

After having reached their highest chart positions to date in a handful of territories with their previous album Fire Music and having been awarded Gold & Platinum singles in Sweden, Danko return with their new masterpiece, Wild Cat, once again produced by Juno Award winning producer Eric Ratz.

Wild Cat is due for release on March 3rd worldwide through eOne in Canada and Bad Taste Records / AFM Records in the rest of the world.

With Fire Music (2015), the predecessor to Wild Cat, Danko reached their highest chart positions to date in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Finland and also charted in another handful of key territories. The first single ”Do You Wanna Rock” peaked at #5 on the Active Rock radio charts in Canada, making it their highest charting single in Canada in their career. The song also received massive airplay around the globe.

Celebrating 20 years in the rock n’roll game in 2016, Danko Jones have an impressive resume to show for the past two decades. In addition to sold out headline tours across Canada and the European continent they have also toured the US, Brazil, Japan, Australia and South Africa and done extensive collaborations with a vast number of great artists. The Canadian trio has spent months on the road with Guns N’ Roses, Motorhead and Volbeat, and opened up for The Rolling Stones and Ozzy. Danko was recently featured as a guest vocalist on the Volbeat track “Black Rose”, one of the most streamed songs on their latest album and he also joined Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Duff McKagan (GNR), and Barrett Martin (Screeming Trees) for a session with The Levee Walkers where he sang on two tracks.

The Wild Cat World Tour starts off with two shows in Finland in February and a series of shows in Europe in March and April. A Canadian tour and more European dates will be announced shortly, with other territories to follow.

When the idea was born to do a an all-Swedish music festival in Los Angeles about 7 years ago, we couldn’t even dream that the result would turn out this good. But with hard work and an amazing team of partners, as well as a wonderful lineup of Swedish artists, we made a dream come true – and managed to once again put Sweden on the map as an extraordinary country when it comes to culture, musical talent and good vibes.
